my mum and I visited the grassland a year ago. As soon as we got there, I

couldn’t believe my eyes. What was in front of me was just a piece of land with

loosely grown grass. In the far distance I saw only a couple of horses feeding

lazily. I asked my mother: “Where is the lush, tall grass?” As puzzled as me,

she said nothing. I was shocked to see the differences between the grassland in

my dream and what was in front of me.

On the way home, I thought a lot and tried to find answers.

Now I am old enough to bring awareness to other people and share my dream

for the grasslands. Overgrazing and extensive farming have ruined the grassland

and so taken away the charm of our homeland. But I am confident that one day the

grasslands will recover and its true wealth and beauty will be realized as long

as everybody gives his contribution to restore our homeland.

Last week, thousands of my fellow students had their blood type tested in order to make a contribution for the children who suffer from blood cancer.

As college students, we are adolescents at the critical turning point in our lives. We all face a fundamental choice: cynicism or faith, each will profoundly impact our future, or even the future of our country. I believe in all my fellow classmates. Though we are still inexperienced and even a little bit childish. I believe that we have the courage and faith to meet any challenge and take on our responsibilities. I remembered those words through the funeral and the days that followed when i helped him and my niece attend to all the sad chores that follow an unexpected death. i thought about them on the plane returning to california from the midwestern town where my sisters family lives. i thought about all the things that she hadnt seen or heard or done. i thought about the things that she had done without realizing that they were special.

Im still thinking about his words, and theyve changed the weeds in the garden. im spending more time with my family and friends and less time in committee meetings. whenever possible, life should be a pattern of experience to savour, not endure. im trying to recognize these moment now and cherish them.

Im not saving anything; we use our good china and crystal for every special. event such as losing a pound, getting the sink unstopped, the first camellia blossom… i wear my good blazer to the market if i feel like it. my theory is if i look prosperous, i can shell out $28. 49 for one small bag of groceries without wincing. im not saving my good perfume for special parties; clerks in hardware stores and tellers in banks have noses that function as well as my party going friends.

Someday and one of these days are losing their grip on my vocabulary. if its worth seeing or hearing or doing, i want to see and hear and do it now. im not sure what my sister wouldve done had she know that she wouldnt be here for the tomorrow we all take for granted.

I think she would have called family members and a few close friends. she might have called a few former friends to apologize, and mend fences for past squabbles. i like to think she would have gone out for a chinese dinner, her favorite food. im guessing. ill never know.

Its those little things left undone that would make me angry if i knew that my hours were limited. angry because i put off seeing good friends whom i was going to get in touch with someday. angry because i hadnt written certain letters that i intended to write one of these days. angry and sorry that i didnt tell my husband and daughter often enough how much i truly love them.

Im trying very hard not to put off, hold back, or save anything that would add laughter and luster to our lives. and every morning when i open my eyes, i tell myself that every day, every minute, every breath truly, is... a gift from god.

My topic is “friendship”.But,at first ,I want to talk with you about love.Many of us have vision it in college.The special feeling in the memory of the four years is always pure and beautiful.

You may have asked what the “love”is on earth? In my opinion, Love is a sense of responsibility!Known to care for others, and this feeling, no matter what the result is ,must be a life-long memorable event.

My friends often consult me about their emotional problems.And they spend too much time on their lover.Naturally,they igored their friends.

I have received a message from one of my good friends.She said: “ if A is equals to 1 ,B is equals to 2,C is epuals to 3,and so on..

Then L+O+V+E=54,but F+R+I+E+N+D+S+H+I+P=108!

So friendship is twice stronger than love!” Now I’d love to share my experience with all of you.

Last summer vocation,I had a car accident,and had to be in hospital,I felt boring and painful,because I could do nothing but stay in bed. It’s my friends who came to see me ,chatted with me ,encouraged me, helped me get through the hardtime.

It is a common saying that love is a lamp, while friendship is the shadow. When the lamp is off,you will find the shadow everywhere. Friend is who can give you strength at last.

Finally let's pray together now ,that one day, all of us could find the person we want to find, and could enjoy a real beautiful friendship in our lives. Let's pray the flower of friendship between our friends and us would always bloom brightly in our hearts. That’s all .Thank you!

think big and dare to be great. When we were little kids, we all dreamed of

doing something big and splashy, something significant. Now what we need to do

is to maintain them, refresh them and turn them into reality. However, the

toughest part is that we often have no ideas how to translate these dreams into

actions. Well, just start with concrete objectives and stick to it. Don’t let

the nameless fear confuse the eye and confound our strong belief of future.

Through our talents, through our wits, through our endurance and through our

creativity, we will make it.

Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that

cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams, for when dreams go, life is a barren field

frozen with snow. So my dear friends, think of your old and maybe dead dreams.

Whatever it is, pick it up and make it alive from today.

Generally speaking, there are four sorts of waste. They are material waste, organic waste, inorganic waste and poisonous & harmful waste. Now, we are going to talk about each sort of waste one by one.

Material waste: it means the waste of substance or things from which something else can be made. For example, people throw away the used metal products and buy a new one, so the old metal waste accumulates. At last, they become waste. For example, when people finish reading newspaper, the paper will become waste. When the glass is broken, it also becomes waste. Nobody wants to use a broken window or drink with a broken glass or wear a pair of broken glasses. Once it is broken, it becomes waste. The rate of using plastics is increasing day by day. People use plastic bags because they are convenient. When they get home, they throw the plastics way, paying no attention to the environment. The more convenience plastics brings to us, the more plastic waste is produced. This is called “white pollution” as most plastics are white. Some of our products we use every day are made of rubber, just like the tyres and the bottom part of our shoes. It’s true that rubber plays an important role in our life. However, it also brings us some trouble when it has been used for a long time and becomes old. The old tyres become waste because it can’t break down by nature. This is really a big problem.

the flames of withering injustice. it came as a joyous daybreak to end the long

night of their captivity.

but one hundred years later, the negro still is not free. one hundred years

later, the life of the negro is still sadly crippled by the manacles of

segregation and the chains of discrimination. one hundred years later, the negro

lives on a lonely island of poverty in the midst of a vast ocean of material

prosperity. one hundred years later, the negro is still languished in the

corners of american society and finds himself an exile in his own land. and so

we've come here today to dramatize a shameful condition.

in a sense we've come to our nation's capital to cash a check. when the

architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the constitution and

the declaration of independence, they were signing a promissory note to which

every american was to fall heir. this note was a promise that all men, yes,

black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the "unalienable rights" of

"life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." it is obvious today that america

has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of color are

concerned. instead of honoring this sacred obligation, america has given the

negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked "insufficient

funds."
